First annual charity horse show enlivens Silver Cross society
The Ladies' Advisory Board of Silver Cross hospital hosted a large benefit horse show drawing about 1,000 people. John D. Paige opened the event with a parade led by Chief Paige and the Steel Works band, followed by a day of drafts, saddle horses, ponies, and a Wheel of Fortune fundraiser with prizes and fines.

The board of review finished its yearly work and adjourned, with plans to reconvene next week to finalize paperwork. Chairman Fred Wilke thanked newspapers for courtesies, as the Joliet Stove Works case was settled with four years of back taxes and penalties. several property assessments and schedule corrections were also issued for multiple towns and individuals.
