Louis J Hammond longtime Joliet resident and stock dealer died at his home 714 South Richards Street at 7 80 this morning aged 81. Survived by wife two children Ashley Hammond King and Werence Hammond Grinten one brother John Hammond. Born December 22 1826 in New York state he lived in Joliet since 1865 and co owned the Hammond block at Jefferson and Ottawa. Funeral Sunday at 2 30 pm from the residence with services and Oakwood burial.

Watch Thief George Clay Held on Larceny Charge
Detectives arrested George Clay on suspicion of stealing six watches from Dellwood Park area. A gold ladies watch was found in his possession, with reports of two additional watches sold to a pawnbroker.
