Major Chicago Department Store Fire Leaves $300000 Loss
A large blaze in the Boston store rear ignited early yesterday, wiping out the three story building and damaging adjoining blocks on Jefferson street. Insurance covers much of the loss, with extensive damage to Raub Co. and D Arcy structures and several unions reporting losses. Firefighters from Chicago Aurora Morris aided briefly as flames spread rapidly, but no serious injuries were reported.

Sensational shooting case near Ottawa and Clinton streets
Miss Mary Preston and Arthur Yack were involved in a fatal shooting near a lonely road behind St Mary's church. Two men on horseback were alleged highwaymen, with a revolver used during the confrontation. Philip Sprague testified meeting two men en route from Lockport shortly before the tragedy. The coroner's inquest closed with the finding that Yack died from a revolver wound inflicted by a stranger.
