Unofficial returns show Weber defeating Clyde by ten votes as Democrats secure ten local offices. Results face scrutiny amid questions about counts and process. Local officials urge patience while audits continue.
The unofficial results show John R. Herath as supervisor with 4 481 votes and Henry Ruth 263. John L. Carlson and Julius Westphal lead the assistant supervisors race with 4 467 and 4 451 votes respectively. Elmer Grundy tops the Republican ticket for assessor with 4 555, while John Overholser is re elected town clerk with 4 202 votes. David R. Davis wins as collector with 4 474 votes and John P. Wilhelmi defeats James Herbert 4 342 to 3 879 for highway commissioner. Henry Weber appears to win school trustees by a narrow margin of about 10 votes. Close counts prompt official recounts and questions about eligibility and vote totals.
The unofficial Republican tallies show Henry Weber with 4 152 to Thomas Clyde 4 142, a 10 vote edge. Weber carried 11 of 23 precincts, while Clyde won 12. Socialist Mrs. F X Lasser had 277 votes. Henry Leach won the Township Board of Education seat 4 574 to 3 711 over Landus Brannon. Catherine Murray, Socialist, received 299 votes.
The Joliet Merchants Association schedules its directors’ meeting at the association office on Thursday morning April 3 with a 7 30 p m meeting for all merchants to discuss the high pressure water system proposal submitted to the city council on October 2 1907. Charles Breggoria was sentenced to an indeterminate term at Pontiac in Judge Marshall's court this morning on a larceny charge. He victimized his landlord and a former roommate, and was arrested after a flight.
Eberhardt Fischer, a contractor from Comstock, suffered a serious arm injury at a mill on South Bluff Street as his clothing was drawn into a buzzing saw. Doctors fear surgery may be needed if the artery is damaged, but rapid action by fellow workers saved his arm.
City Engineer H A Stevens submits a plan via William H Farley to lay new Washington street mains 8 feet north of the existing line in a trench beneath the future Spring Creek channel. New mains would extend beyond the channel to connect with the old, then remove the old lines after water is turned in.
A twenty five man crew led by foreman H. Isbon arrived from Jackson Michigan this morning to start building the temporary Spring Creek bridge as preparation for track elevation for the Michigan Central.
George H. Munroe travels from California to Joliet at his brother Edwin Munroe's urging after a major fire gutted his building last Saturday. He plans to stay at least until plans for a new replacement are set, weighing a California return in spring.

Across 23 precincts Joliet townships shift toward liquor interests with about 2 to 1 tally, 9,637 total votes cast. Dry majorities appear in few precincts while many report returns favoring the retailers and opposition to local option.
