Story of New Orleans Jewish Orphans Home
The board on July 15 1883 accepted resignations of N S Bunzel and Mrs Bunzel as superintendent and matron. Simon L Weil and wife elected to fill roles. The Home marked its 29th anniversary Jan 6 1884 with Julius S Beer as orator. In 1885 the 30th anniversary was noted and plans for enlarging buildings, fundraising, and ground purchases described. The kindergarten grew to 59 pupils with receipts of 22 406 65 and expenses 11 7384 21. membership reached 546.
