John W. Wimer Dies at Burnettsville Pioneer Merchant
John W. Wimer, among White county's oldest residents, died at his Burnettsville home after a brief illness. Born February 7, 182? in Orange County New York, he settled in Burnettsville in 186, later living briefly in Logansport. A pioneer Wabash merchant and long active Republican, he served in the 1871 state legislature representing White and Benton counties, was a presidential elector in 1878, and a 159 delegate to the Republican national convention voting early for Garfield. Funeral services will be held Friday morning in Burnettsville.
