Bloomington Ind November 6 Judge Miers for Congress reports a 125 plurality in Monroe county and predicts a district majority as the Republican state ticket leads there by 206. He cites pluralities for Miers Ox Sullivan Martin Monroe and Chaney Lawrence Owen Greene Daviess in the district results.
In Bedford Indiana on November 6 Lawrence county awarded Miers for Congress 2581 votes and Chaney for Congress 2785. Matthews for senator 2555. Rogers for senator 2508. Edwards for representative unopposed. Chaney leads by 19 percent. Republicans sweep county tickets, with Owens (Dem) also winning by a margin.

In Owen county Spencer Indiana on November 6 the congressional race counts list Miers 1 666 and Chaney 1 712 with Chaney ahead by 46. In Martin county Shoals Indiana official counts on November 6 show Schoonover 1 614 and Storms 1 640 with Storms ahead by 26.

In Chicago on November 6, 2500 trainmen of Union Trac tion and Consolidated Street railways won more than a 10 percent raise effective Sept. 15. Cablemen gain 0.5 cents hourly, electricmen 0.24, consolidated line workers 0.23, trippers 1.75 daily, night crews on West Side up 0.05 hourly, North Side night crews up 0.5 hourly. The new scale runs to May 31, 184, with a later review for barnmen. The No 2 union is to be abolished and death sickness or accident benefits are dropped. Discharged workers’ status to be announced.
Springfield Illinois November 6 Governor Yates suffered a relapse and his condition is described as worse than at any prior time since illness began. He was fed in the afternoon, then had a prolonged vomiting fit. Fever rose, delirium returned, and he sank into restless slumber late tonight with a high temperature and pulse around 104.
James Williams of El Paso, once from Pueblo, Colorado, wandered three days in the desert with companions. After straying from a camel caravan on Sunday, he traveled in circles for fifty miles before being located three miles from El Paso, reportedly in Pueblo’s sporting circles.
In New York on November 6, 1898, Mrs Hannah Stephenson testified she did not recognize Roland B Molineux as the man who mailed a poison package at the post office on December 23 1898. She identified a man resembling Harry Cornish in line and noted a five stamp wrapper she may have overlooked a lower row. Witness described nervous behavior and illness but supported a possible alibi for Cornish while noting she could recognize the mailer.
George B. Hanford of New York organized a Detroit conference of wholesale grocers from eight Midwestern and Eastern states. He plans to recruit the Western Grocers Association and the National Grocers Company to join a proposed combine. Participants agreed to prepare financial statements detailing liabilities assets and earnings within thirty days to set the basis for the merger.
Democratic state chairman Frank Campbell asserts Odell leads by 9122 votes based on Mason returns and claims thousands of defective ballots were counted and in some districts burned after counting. He says Democrats will engage canvassing boards to push for an honest count and dispute results before nextTuesday.

Stone Webster will build a fourteen mile flume to produce about 50 000 horsepower powering Tacoma and Seattle with three phase high voltage electricity. The plan seeks to use glacial water directly for power generation and deliver electric light and power to the two cities.
In Cincinnati Harrison, Louis Blacker and Harry West are charged with criminal assault on Mabel Wright as she returned from school last Tuesday. The men allegedly blocked her with their guns, causing neighbors to rush in and carry the unconscious girl home. West denies the accusation and Blacker says he was intoxicated. Wright could not testify before Mayor Mettler due to absence.
In Omaha on November 6 the coroner s jury ruled that Miss Augusta Busch and Rev W C Rabe died from asphyxiation by gas due to carelessness. No new light emerged at the inquest. A telegram from Mrs Rabe dated Buffalo N Y says she will arrive in Omaha Friday. No arrangements yet for the disposition of the young woman s body.
