W A Baker and F C Bradley led negotiations with Pennsylvania Railroad President Cassatt in New York. contracts cover allied lines and expire within three to four years. Local officials knew few details.
Edward Rich, a young white man accused of retaining possession of Sidney Wallis’s body for reward, narrowly avoided lynching as a mob pursued him after being ordered to leave Albany. Officers intervened when a trace chain was found on Rich’s neck. he was jailed on trafficking in human bodies charges.
In Milford Connecticut on June 3 Rev R H Roosevelt pastor of the Congregational Church and his brother J J Roosevelt of Brooklyn cousins of President Roosevelt were lightly hurt when lightning struck the church rectory porch during a storm. They were knocked to the ground as the strike hit.

New York June 23 Retail Butchers Protective Association says a new company to combat the beef trust has been formed with 1 000 000 capital, two thirds subscribed. President Edward F O Neill cites secrecy. Plans include supplying 2000 head weekly from Western drovers and ranchers, with 45 000 New York retailers pledged support.

Tye River field remains closed.
A combine of six large whiteware pottery plants in Pittsburg is perfected with charter granted. The American Pottery Company is likely to be capitalized at 5 million dollars.
