Monon Offers for Local Franchise Reported Again
Rumor of a $100 000 bid from the Monon for the Indianapolis Southern Railway franchise circulates despite denials by D M Parry president of the company and others. A New York dispatch cites the Commercial Advertiser claiming insider info confirms the offer. Parry says the franchise will not part with the line, work on the road bed will start soon, and opening may come early in 194. He says contracts may be awarded in days and that the road will be built within nine months, coal rates for Indianapolis seen as essential to future business.
