School fund swindlers Jerome and Roberts forfeit bonds

Indiana authorities arrest Jerome alias James H. Starke and Roberts alias Bill Dunn in Vincennes for a Knox county gold brick scam that drained a farmer of five thousand dollars. Kentucky requisitions lead to a second bond, but the men flee and forfeit seven thousand dollars in cash. The case echoes yellow‑back fiction with prior Grant county disguises and a buried treasure ruse tied to the same pair.
