Architect Rankin Visits Indianapolis on Federal Building Project
Philadelphia architect John Rankin, leading Rankin & Kelley, visited Indianapolis with Custodian A. A. Young to assess space needs for the planned federal building. Rankin discussed site choice, material options, and timing for plans and bids, aiming for rapid construction and a monument to the era.
Buffalo post office to rise with grand design
The plan calls for a new federal building with a 200 by 20 foot marble mosaic lobby and 20,000 square feet of lit post office space. Bids may span thirty months with a swift contract hustle expected and a high iron fence with trees proposed for the rear to separate court and public areas.
