Topeka Kansas January strong worded report says that about 400 Kansas school children led by state superintendent Frank Nelson will contribute an estimated 25000 dollars to the McKinley memorial fund on Wednesday fostering a statewide drive and showing public school support for the commemoration.
Michael Rieger, a publican, arrested on murder charge after allegedly striking Cincinnati man August Stagge with a wagon wheel spoke during an argument over an insult to Stagge's daughter who worked as a domestic in Rieger's family. Stagge died from the blow.

Shawyer Sumner county sheriff detained a Santa Fe freight train on the Kansas Southwestern line for hours over delinquent taxes. The train was diverted to a Caldwell siding with stops at Caldwell South Haven and Guelph. An injunction from the probate judge blocked further action until a $5,000 bond was posted, after which the band was filed and the train released. The railroad threatens to arrest the sheriff for stopping a mail carrying train.
In a rear-end collision near Keller fifteen miles north of Fort Worth two stock train sections collided at 3 am. W T Stillwell was killed and J G Adkins fatally injured. The two men owned the stock being taken to the St Louis market and were found near Rosebud after the wreck. The crash also burned the first section, prompting emergency crews to respond to the scene.
A group forced residents to leave within two hours and in the ensuing chaos a guard was shot by mistake. A separate report notes a large order for window glass at a modest discount and two Bedford residences robbed with valuables taken and two women held up.
In Kokomo Indiana January 2 oclock this morning at the home of William Somers Greentown a mob attacked the residence of Isaac Murphy a smallpox suspect. Night watchman John Pool was shot by accident while protecting the house. Murphy captured after a long chase by officers from Anderson Marion and Kokomo. Somers and his patient remain in the house amid fears of further trouble.
Special to the Indianapolis Joy from Marion Indiana reports Elmer O'Brien a 25 year old glassworker at the Diamond window glass factory in Gas City was fatally stabbed in a Hartman Cummings saloon by Tomlin. The weapon cut the abdomen and intestines. doctors fear death. Tomlin a Civil War veteran is in custody after the dispute over a game table. O'Brien recently moved from gas city last fall and was described as quarrelsome and unmarried.
In Kokomo Mrs W J Winn wounded herself with a knife while suffering from a blood clot and pain. she may recover. In Elkhart Debs and jealousy driven Frank Stauffer a coal dock laborer took carbolic acid today, leaving a widow and three young children. he was 37.
Albert Wilson and Samuel Shutters, enemies in French settlement west of New Albany, fought last night. Wilson fatally stabbed Shutters, then was struck by a Southern Railway train and found dead on the tracks this morning two miles west of the city. Shutters, wounded in the lungs and abdomen, had been key witness in the Turner case for the July killing of John Casteau. Wilson, age twenty six, recently finished a sentence in Michigan City for a prior theft.
In Jasper Indiana last night four local farmers confronted Frank Clark and James Conners as they tried to force entry into Geisler’s home mistaking it for a schoolhouse. Geisler fired wounding Frank Clark who is listed as dangerous with an eye injury. Clark and Conners are in jail.
