Ticket scalping business under strain in Indianapolis
The traffic of the ticket scalper and its results for 1900 were far from satisfactory. General passenger agents surround them with menace, driving scalping out of business. Interchangeable mileage books are risky and underutilized. Congress failure to curb scalping harmed them. They profit slightly from Sunday excursions and unused tickets, but Central Traffic Passenger Association keeps markets strict and Indianapolis operates only two continuous scalping offices. Summer excursions offer some revenue, but overall profitability remains bleak.
