In Manila on February 19, Major Amarante, two captains, six lieutenants and ninety-eight Filipino soldiers surrendered to Lieut. Charles D. Rhodes of the Sixth Cavalry at Banán. They yielded five revolvers, sixty-six rifles and two thousand rounds. Rhodes had hunted them for weeks, their supplies being destroyed, and the insurgents were starved into surrender. Skeletons of five Thirty-ninth Infantry soldiers killed in November 1900 were recovered and will be shipped to the United States.
