Presbyterian Creed Revision Report From Washington Meeting
The Presbyterian creed revision committee, led by Rev. Dr. William Henry Roberts, met in Washington on December 4 and to Dec. 14. They produced a sixteen article statement of the reformed faith and a declaratory statement covering several chapters and sections of the Confession, plus notes on the gospel and the Holy Spirit. The work is tentative and to be reviewed in Philadelphia February 6, 142. A five member subcommittee was formed to draft a tentative revision. The plan is to report the declaratory statement to the next General Assembly and sidetrack the revision movement until 193. Some ministers expect the committee to push the declaratory statement as a quick remedy for the church.
