Bond issue dispute delays city treasurer election
ELKHART Ind Dec 6 Fidelity and Trust Co of Baltimore informed the City Council the reason it refused to execute a $70,000 bond for City Treasurer elect E A Campbell. The Indiana Supreme Court recently ruled that such bonds extend to shield municipal and county governments from losses due to depositories. The local agent’s bid included a waiver that the bond would not cover cash losses from depositories, but the company contends the court’s decision voids such waivers by authorities.
