Lieutenant Beecher reports on a new wireless weather bureau telegraphy system tested between Roanoke and the mainland opposite Hatteras. The 50 mile link works with accuracy and speed without a coherer, using little battery power and compact gear. a selective device shows promise.
The Marconi wireless telegraph apparatus for a Sagaponack Long Island station arrived today two miles from Bridgehampton. It includes a 185 foot mast a one horsepower engine and a dynamo. The system will link with New York via Western Union and cover sixty miles enabling direct communication with the Sandy Hook station. The Nantucket lightship operator will run the station and it will also serve as a school for operators training in the new system. operation is expected next week.
A California limited derailed on the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe line near Cama Missouri, killing four and injuring twenty three. The train split rails on a curve, sending derailed cars into a ditch as heavy damage occurred and traffic resumed by night.

Fire and boiler explosion destroyed the Hager Steel Company rolling mill at Madison DL causing about 250000 dollars in loss with half covered by insurance. Explosion on the Fulton near the Delaware breakwater injures five men including Lieut Oscar Kohen and Lt Arthur MacArthur son of General MacArthur. The vessel, damaged but operable, will be repaired in a few days and towed to New Suffolk after weather permits.

A Granbury dispatch confirms a Glenrose tornado killed eight and fatally injured three others. Fifty seven injured, with thirty three buildings demolished, leaving over one hundred homeless.
