Memorial Library Fund Raised for Seminary Memorial
The Rev B W Wiseman announces $2500 in gifts from friends and relatives to establish a library at the Kansas City Baptist Theological Seminary memorializing Major John G Pratt and Major Charles Journeyeake. The drive, raised in under ten days, draws donors from southern Kansas and the Indian Territory. Pratt, who came to Kansas in 1837, helped found the first Baptist church in Piper and was revered by Southern Kansas Baptists. Journeyeake served as a missionary among the Delaware Indians in Wyandotte and with them until their removal to the Indian Territory.
