Federal Court Sessions At Sapulpa Involving Murders and Alleged Thefts
Tuesday sessions in Sapulpa saw indictments transferred to Muskogee for trial including John Tiger a Creek man charged with murder after the Christmas Day incident. G Walford Frost faced continued trial for cattle theft as jurors worked through delays. Judge Gill heard quo warranto pleas over the Sapulpa mayoral office and Rosa Aspley was named estate administratrix. A grand jury returned true bills against burglars liquor sellers and counterfeiters including GeorgeBartell Leaspah Frank Hicks and Paul Batter. John Vinita was found guilty of horse theft near Talala. Henry Manahan and Virgil Padgett admitted burglary and were sent to reform school or penal institution for three years. Other cases featured Peter James selling liquor to the Grand River country and a sentence for meat theft from a Landrum smokehouse near Sapulpa. The court also addressed a divorce and a physician's plea over a mislabelled alcoholic decoction. By adjournment 23 talovmen had been examined with one juror qualified.
