Cherokee Nation Act Land Grants For Schools And Churches
The Cherokee Nation ratifies land awards for churches and schools including a ten dollar per acre offer to Methodists for 160 acres near Vinita to hold title for religious and educational purposes. Other colleges may claim acres under the law and must petition the Interior Secretary within sixty days after ratification. final determinations rest with the Interior. The act outlines distribution and use of land for Cherokee schools and church purposes and lists rolls of citizens as of September 1902.
