Village plans tax warrants to meet bills in Homewood
The Homewood village board on Tuesday night adopted an ordinance authorizing the issuance of anticipation warrants to cover upcoming expenses. The measure, backed by Attorney Whitehead, allows warrants payable with interest and redeemable when tax money becomes available. Two warrant types exist: about six percent for outside buyers and up to four percent for dedicated village funds. The board also approved replacing the old working agreement with a contract for village and special assessment attorneys, to be finalized at the next meeting.

Thornton Township High School defeated Aurora 75 to 56 in a dual track and field meet at East Aurora. An automatic pilot designed by Otto W. Green of Elyria Ohio was tested in a National Air Transport Douglas mail plane at Chicago Municipal Airport. The device kept the plane stable in fog and bad weather for thirty minutes with only occasional rudder input. The vane and pendulum control two motors adjusting the elevators and ailerons to maintain balance. A Brownie Scouts party was held at Library Hall on Wednesday.
