Ellis County Republicans solidified their slate last Saturday, blocking W. T. Cox from the county clerk race to create a clear field for Cox’s Democratic rival. Geo. Brown defeated Matt Hey for sheriff as part of a relatively quiet contrast in nominations amid intra party maneuvering.
Miss Neilie Reeder left Saturday for Bradford Academy in Bradford Massachusetts. Miss Mildred Pestana departed Monday for Washburn University in Topeka for the coming year. Susie Shaffer Henrietta Oshant and Clarence Loreditsch left Wednesday for Kansas University in Lawrence. Joe Irwin went to Salina for a Salina Wesleyan course. Lucy Snyder and mother enrolled at K U. Casper Middlekauff re enrolled in prisacy school at K U. Miss Mary Virmond left for K U via Ellsworth for a visit en route.
Former U.S. Senator and prospective governor W A Harris will address the political scene today with morning remarks at the G A R hall and an afternoon talk at the Normal Auditorium. Afterward a Democrats versus Republicans football game will be played, with a prediction that Democrats will not finish second.
