A Wisconsin industry source claims the International Paper Co is driving a nationwide print paper merger. He says mills across Wisconsin Minnesota and Michigan will join the new giant with options on most facilities. Within a year the firm may control the U S print paper market and prices could rise to four cents to jobbers and six cents to small buyers a boon for printers but a setback for cost-conscious customers.
The Ellis County school fund gains $600 this week from fines paid by three eastern jointists nabbed by Co. Atty. Shutts. One fine is paid while two remain, the collected penalties going to the school fund under a recent law. The men continue liquor sales despite prohibition laws.

C M Holmquist and Chas Lee encountered car trouble Wednesday night while touring Ellis County land. After repeated repairs by Felton the engine finally died near Will Truan’s farm. Truan arranged a livery carriage to town. Holmquist and Lee rode in around 2 a m. Felton kept the auto and delivered it to town the next day.
The Saturday afternoon club opens its season with a meeting at Mrs. Etta L. Ward's home on September 21. Mrs. Wm. 8. Picken will lead. The program includes Roll Call, Reading of Minutes, King Lear Act 1, and miscellaneous business.
