The notice urges citizens to open and maintain bank accounts with Citizens State Bank in Hays City Kansas. It advocates deposits and writing checks for every dollar used, arguing paid checks settle disputes and that regular depositors can borrow when others cannot. Signed by J H Ward President.
President Roosevelt toured Kansas with a 20 speech stop in Ellis County, reaching Bias springs at night. crowds of about 2500 filled streets as local G A R, Catholic schoolchildren, and officials greeted him. He spoke to veterans and villagers, received flowers from Alice Penney, and departed amid praise from residents and eastern papers alike.
The Ellsworth Epworth League announces its 14th annual convention at the Methodist church on Hays street next Tuesday through Thursday the 12th to 14th. Planned events include a 7:30 pm long service led by A L Semans, a morning sermon by Rev A N See, sunrise prayer, devotional sessions, roll call of chapters, an address of welcome by Rev Rush, and an evening lecture by Rev Wm E Grose of Kansas. The Rev Holt will hold services at the Gosser schoolhouse Sunday afternoon April 10 at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited. A Granary at Buckeye owned by Harry Felton was struck by night lightning Tuesday, destroyed, with a loss around 1000 dollars as it served as a general storehouse and was uninsured.
