Solicits every person in Ellis county tributary to Hays city to open a bank account by March 1 or soon after. Urges depositing funds with cash receipts on checks detailing usage. Claims paid checks settle disputed accounts and praises regular borrowers. Signed H. Ward, President.

George Bellmann married Miss Bell Hall Wednesday at the brides’ parents home. Rev Weist officiated. A small reception followed and the couple plan to live on Bellmann’s Buckeye homestead with summer stays at the Cowboy place north of town.
Sunday and Monday brought windy days and rough weather. Gerald Hollenbeck gains a Chicago bicycle, Arnold adds a fancy show case to his harness shop, and Wolfe and Son buy three show cases. The Essex Club hosts another enjoyable dance. A stockman in Garden City was fined 50 dollars plus costs by the US Court for fencing government land. The Union Pacific secures a one year contract to carry naval passengers starting July 1, with an expected 10,000 riders. A pitcher is sought for the third nine, with the sole requirement of equal skill to the predecessor. Dr. Jordan, resident dentist, Office over Ryan's. Attorney Jake Shutts resigns, Ed Rea to fill vacancy on June 30. The Methodist church welcomed Rev. Rush and wife with a surprise party. Two Elds fellows planned a town venture but were denied by Mayer Saum. A rain and then freezing storm caused ice damage to trees and plants. Gorham has not bought Beach ranch as rumored. Todd Wood welcomes a new baby photographer. McCracken ball team defeated here but failed to impress. Mrs Tolles family moves to Washington. Bottling works tenant rented the newer cottage. tank and windmill improved. Bridge work on the west side progresses with workers relocating to Solomon. Beware insurance offers from outside agents. better to insure with local town agents for prompt payment.
Students at FHM High school cope with spring fever as Juniors recite Latin in the last period while many join the Hays Athletic Association. Debates, a postponed game with Ellis Dome due to weather, and a small graduating class of 1903 feature in a bustling week.
