Uncle George Schoendaller 37 Dies After Paralysis

George Schoendaller known as Uncle George died Monday at 6 40 p m at home on Normal Avenue aged 37 years 3 days after 27 years of total paralysis He came from Russia in 1870 lived in Rush County then moved to Normal Ave Last Fall he was elected Justice of the Peace for Big Creek Township Funeral was Wednesday at 9 am from the Catholic Church The Fixx Pnes and many friends extend sympathy to the family

Tragic Amputation After Freight Train Accident

John Nelson a traveling salesman from Clay Venter Kansas City had his left arm cut off at the elbow when a freight train at Gorham started suddenly Thursday noon. He was on the caboose platform and was thrown between the car and caboose. He was taken to Ellsworth Hospital where doctors amputated the arm. He is reported to be doing well.

Frank Stout of Salina has been in the city on collection business. Mrs Caradal and children and Mayme Mulroy visit Damar for a ten day outing. Mrs F J Rice sails to Covington Ky after a two month visit. State Normal Regents F J Altswager C G Messerley and A H Bushey arrived in the city yesterday. Mr and Mrs H H Pierce came from their Russell area farm after harvest. The P W and K circus performs Friday afternoon with a 2 30 parade noted for quality over quantity.

Small Babies Die in Week Near Hays

Several infants near Hays pass away this week from cholera infantum and burns. James Shutts’s infant daughter died Friday, a 21 month old girl buried Saturday. Paul Zimmerman’s five month old child died of heart failure Thursday. Ed Haddock’s nine month old boy died Sunday. Henry Hertlin’s three year old daughter died Wednesday from lantern explosion burns. funeral held Thursday at 4 PM from the Catholic Church. Community extends sympathy to grieving families.
