Educators Meet Sets Record at Wakeeney Session

The Golden Belt Educational Association held its 12th annual session in Wakeeney last Friday and Saturday, attracting 216 members, nearly double prior attendances. The event cleared over $100, with strong performances including Robert Parker Miles and Maude Plumb’s gold medal win. Oakley will host the next meeting. officers elected include F. E. Lindley as president and Miss Anna P. Hopkins as treasurer.

Funeral for Maurice Bannister Held at Mt Allen Cemetery

Solemn rites marked Maurice Bannister's funeral in Hays last Sunday with a four o'clock service at his home led by Father Julius. The procession, led by A C U W past masters H A Nickles and Hiram Joy, extended over three blocks to Mt. Allen Cemetery where the last rites were given as about 80 lodge members marched in pairs. Bannister, advertising manager for Zeigler Son's store and famed ad writer, was known in Hays though his legal name is Connell. several Bannister family members traveled from Reno, Ohio and Scranton to attend, along with J R McMahon of Kansas City and Anna Streetenfinger with family.

Kansas Alfalfa Day Called for December Fourteenth

Mr J R Miller of the State Farm ers Institute calls a Kansas Alfalfa Day on December 14. All county vice presidents must convene in their townships at 1:30 PM to discuss alfalfa problems and share seeding storing and stand experiences. Meetings end at 3:30 PM and reports go to J R Chittenden.

Court at Hays Trial of Gottchalks Verdict Guilty

Court in session most of the week tried The State against the Gottchalks for removing a fence in Lookout township. A jury found the three brothers guilty and Judge Ruppenthal will pronounce sentence next week. Also naturalization papers granted to Henry A. Miller and John Zerfos. A Persian mission sale raised 27 dollars for a mission school.
