Thursday brings partial sunshine with highs in the lower 90s and southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph. Thursday night lowers to mid-50s with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. Friday remains partly sunny with a 30 percent thunderstorm chance and highs in the lower 70s.
A federal judge in San Francisco granted class action status to a sex discrimination suit against Wal-Mart, potentially encompassing up to 1.6 million female current and former employees. The plaintiffs allege systemic pay gaps and blocked promotions. Wal-Mart plans an appeal. No trial date was set. Wal-Mart shares fell on the ruling amid expectations of extensive litigation and potential damages.
