Fossilized Mosasaur Remains Donated to Sternberg Museum
Mahlon Tuttle, his wife Carolyn, and Tom Nolan donated fossilized mosasaur stomach contents found on Tuttle’s land to Sternberg Museum of Natural History. Adjunct curator Mike Everhart explained the remains may be the last meal of a mosasaur from about 80 million years ago, rather than coprolites. The donors and curator discussed the discovery during their Hays visit.

Campers aid Greensburg cleanup after tornado
About 80 high school campers from the Kansas Youth Leadership Academy helped clear debris in Greensburg, torn apart by an EF-5 twister. They split into groups, moved heavy debris and lighter trash, toured the town, and spoke with leaders, learning about community resilience and rebuilding efforts.

Commissioners vote to accept FAA grants for Hays Regional Airport
Hays City Commissioners approved two FAA grants in a special meeting. One $23,372 grant funds aviation easements, the other $139,931 pays for architectural and engineering work for the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility to be built at the airport. The facility will house a new fire truck required by FAA rules. The panel also considered restriping 27th Street from Plum to Hall to add a lane but will seek resident input before any decision.
