Includes year ago readings, 24 hour precipitation, precipitation to date, average to date, and 11 am temperature with wind speed, sunrise and sunset times.
An extended outlook shows Sunday and Monday with a chance of thunderstorms across the state. Lows in the 60s. Highs range from 85 to 95. Tuesday also carries thunderstorm chances, with lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s.
Jeffrey Dietz the Newton deliveryman who admitted trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife and Tommi Sommerfelds husband is due to testify in Harvey County District Court. The trial centers on Sommerfeld charged with conspiring to murder and Dietz with aiding the plot after a plea bargain.
Four stroke risk assessment clinics are planned this month with Rural Stroke Project nurse practitioners. Sessions include blood pressure checks, health history discussions, and medication reviews at Gove, Lucas, Hill City, and Nicodemus senior centers on June 23 to 25. Thomas More Prep Marian High School earned a certificate for its alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention efforts from the Ellis County Community Partnership. Patrick Schmidtberger of Victoria received a certificate for his volunteer work with Ellis County youth.
The Ellis County Fair 4H Barbecue runs from 4 30 to 6 30 p m on July 23 at the Ellis County Fairgrounds Tickets cost 4 each The menu features pork or beef scalloped potatoes vegetables bread relishes cookies watermelon and a drink MIX 103 sponsors the event.

Ford Model T owners in a five day Real Ford Country Tour faced parking woes at the Kansas Cosmosphere forcing 150 cars to use Hutchinson Sports Arena lot. The 700 mile journey averaged 35 mph and included a luncheon at Hutchinson Community College and a Cosmosphere tour. A shuttle was arranged for drivers. Next stops are Russell for refreshments and Brookville for lunch at the Brookville Hotel.
