Harvest resumes in south central Kansas wheat fields
In south central Kansas most fields were dry enough to begin harvesting as muddy fields and wet grain kept combines idle earlier. Test cuts started in Ellis County with moisture around 13 percent and test weight near 60 pounds per bushel and harvest was expected to continue. Local coordinators noted excellent grain quality with little sign of freeze damage while equipment shortages and many combines being used in Oklahoma posed logistic hurdles.
