The Book Magazine online poll names J.K. Rowling as the top living author in Britain, beating Ian McEwan Salman Rushdie Harold Pinter and A S Byatt. Rowling's seventh Harry Potter book is in progress as fans vote. The top ten also includes Terry Pratchett Kazuo Ishiguro Philip Pullman Nick Hornby Jonathan Coe and John Le Carré in a tie for 10th.
