Larned Fort Larned National Historic Site hosts a Christmas Open House from 6 30 to 9 30 p m on Saturday. Guests join soldiers officers and civilians for carol singing cookies hot cider and games by candlelight in the Post Hospital with Victorian era celebration. The Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging hosts Information Day for senior citizens at Grainfield American Legion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday with talks on consumer fraud, folk remedies, antiques, long term care insurance, and legal services. Attend a Christmas tea. lunch reservations by Monday require a $2 meal contribution.
The Hays Post Office extends hours for the next three Saturdays December 9 16 and 23 with 730 am to 2 pm. Sunday December 17 hours are 1 to 4 pm. A 24 hour parcel pickup doorbell is installed in the lobby Monday through Saturday. Packages may also be mailed at Dillon's postal contract stations at 1902 Vine or 2700 Hall.
Carl Anthony will appear at the Eisenhower Center in Abilene at 7 30 p m Tuesday in the Library auditorium to discuss his latest book on America's first families. He will answer questions and sign copies sold that evening. A coffee and dessert reception follows in the courtyard. The annual Christmas Display of the Little Town of Bethlehem at St. Boniface Church in Vincent will be open for visitors on December 10 17 24 25 31 and January 1 from 1 to 5 pm. Special groups may call 785 735 9258 for weekday appointments. This 78th year invites all visitors to view the Christmas Crib located five and a half miles south and two miles east of Victoria.
