Howser Ranch Visit Highlights Clearwater Region

In company with County Agent Ralph M Pavey Mrs Pavey and Auctioneer Harry C Cranke the Globe editor toured Clearwater area praising the district s growth and farmer stockman enterprise They visited H J Howser s ranch near town where 27 head of registered cattle grazed a spring pasture and a purebred cow valued above 300, with hay and silage operations and diverse stock including shorthorns hogs chickens and Poland China offspring. The party noted impressive crops alfalfa clover and silage, and the visit culminated with a bountiful homegrown dinner before continuing to Bills, a region famed for its corn and silos.

Trip home from Stites described in good road conditions

The party left Stites with plans for school duties the next morning. The return journey was smooth as roads were in good condition. Tarkross overtook near the top of Stites hill while the Prairie showed disadvantage by the weather. Showers left grain still standing in the shocks.

Woman Nominee Withdraws as Idaho Superintendent Candidate

Miss Olive M. Petrashek, Democratic nominee for Idaho state superintendent of public instruction, filed with the Secretary of State a statement withdrawing from the race. Her withdrawal leaves the party without a candidate while Ethel I. Redfell, Republican incumbent, faces the general election unopposed. Petrashek, from Welser, had been nominated at the county and state levels.

Winter Lyceum Course Pleases Grangeville Residents

Grangeville launches a five‑event winter entertainments series sponsored by local men and student leaders. The lineup includes The Temple Choir on Nov 2, Cartoonist Pitt Parker on Nov 16, The Clifton Mallory Players on Jan 9 presenting Vanity, Fred G Bale on Feb 2 with a lecture on The Fourth Line of Defense, and The Gardner Concert Jubilee Company on Apr 2. Community leaders and the United Student Body back season tickets. high school hosts all programs in the auditorium. Barnett Returns to Seek Farm Near Town

RN Barnett arrived Monday evening from Gilroy Montana where he had moved with his family a few years ago. He spent a year after year in that state and now comes back to locate a farm. Later he will bring his family to join him here.

Fall Term of District Court Opens Next Monday

The regular fall term of district court will convene at the new courthouse next Monday morning the 27th at 10 o'clock with Judge Edgar Steele of Moscow presiding in place of Judge Wailsee N Scales of the tenth district who is in California recovering from a minor operation. The calendar includes 64 civil and four criminal cases and lists numerous foreclosures, divorces, condensations, and suits for money or damages.

McLaughlin Round Over In Liquor Case At Probate Court

The hearing in the McLaughlin case ended in probate court before Judge Wilbur L. Campbell. The defendant was bound over to the district court and placed on $200 bonds for appearance. A. W. Bills, deputy state constable, testified to the arrest for selling and possessing liquor. County Attorney B. Auger was absent sick. A. Hardy stood for the state. M. Heese Hutta represented the defendant. An assistant prosecutor, John Berchmans Auger, recently born weighs eight pounds and caused a stir at the county attorney’s home after his arrival. Undertaker Hancock returned from Michigan with business matters and to discuss professional concerns.

Teachers of Three Counties Meet in Moscow Institute

Idaho and Asotin county teachers gather in Moscow October 4 for a five day joint institute led by Superintendent T. B. Shank. County groups include Idaho Lewis Nez Perce Clearwater and Latah. Autominobiles meet the train October 8 for registration and assignments. Program features the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and Driggs author of Live Language with demonstrations all week.

Damage suit filed in district court today over deposits

A damage suit about 3171 dollars was filed in district court. Plaintiff W. B. Truellood appears with defendants including Salmon River State Bank and White Bird State Bank. The complaint claims $4000 on deposit with Grangeville’s First National and improper transfer to White Bird Bank in a scheme involving Daly and meat contracts.
