Grangeville High School prepares for the fourteenth annual graduation on Friday at 8 15 PM in the Opera House. The class includes four boys and five girls, with Laura Smith as valedictorian and William Williams as salutatory. diplomas will be presented by BM Griffith. program features include a speech on The Army the Reserve and piano and vocal performances.

Water spouts and windstorm sweep Kooskia region

Three water spouts struck north and east of Grangeville causing severe damage in Kooskia where a home owned by W H Casady was swept into the river. Rail lines between Kooskia and Orofino were torn up, Nez Perce streets flooded, and a four horse team was killed by lightning near Steunenberg. White Bird and Warehouse structures were wrecked and the new two story Odd Fellows hall collapsed, damaging Salmon River Stores warehouse and totaling about $6000 in damages with rain soaking goods.

Beer car derailment delays no harm near Cottonwood

A carload of beer jumped the track near Cottonwood Tuesday night. The passenger was held at Ruebens, the engine returned for a wrecker, and upon its return the beer car was back on the track causing a delay of a couple of hours. Vollmer spokesman says no injuries.

Play Two Baseball Games At Local Park This Week

Local ball team to host outside clubs at the ball Park Friday and Saturday during the Horse Show, with Cottonwood Friday and Kooskia Saturday. Fans may take special trains at one and a third fare both show days, and Sunday service runs for the regular baseball special. First pitches set for 2 o'clock each day to keep trains on schedule.

Winnemucca to Frisco Rail Plan Backed by Reports

The Caldwell Tribune notes H. W. Dorman of the Commercial club quotes reliable sources claiming a Winnemucca to San Francisco railroad linked via Boise will be built with 20 million dollars ready for investment. An surveying effort has moved through Boise and a Western Pacific official letter says seven million pledged, with thirteen million to follow. Colonel Place’s long effort is praised as key to the project’s success and the region gains large stockyards and a packing plant alongside the rail line.

A Rich Strike at South Fork in Idaho Mine Opens Big Ore Body

A Grangeville report confirms a major strike at the South Fork ledge near Idaho’s central region. J T Ome, secretary of Kepy operation, says ore opens at 650 feet with 300 feet of drift, predicting 500000 tons for early production. Mining costs estimate low with cyanide processing planned.
