Prairie League opens with six teams in Grangeville

Six teams Grangeville Cottonwood Ferdinand Ilo Vollmer Nez Perce and Kamiah prepare for the Prairie League opener in Grangeville on Sunday afternoon May th at the high school grounds. Local lineup features Kabot Hartnett Bimers Swank Holsclaws and Altman in the outfield with possible additions Carl Meyer Tom Heath and others. A practice game is set for Friday at Geelock as a band will play downtown before the game.

Cattle Shipment Arrives From Gl & Irwin Ranch

Rey Irwin and Robt Irwin of the Gl & Irwin ranch on the Salmon river bring 265 head of cattle into the city. The stock were sold to Holt and Rhoades for shipment, with additional cattle picked up in the Cottonwood area.

Auto Stage Route From Grangeville to New Meadows Opens

Auto Stage company led by K Breen of Boise completes a grading and track lay between Grangeville and New Meadows. Service begins May 10 with daily passenger and freight runs except Sunday, linking Whitebird to New Meadows via Riggins and others. Investment exceeds $500 with 40 horses and new coaches to operate along a scenic route attracting tourists.

Visitor from Riggins Aitken Reports Prosperous Saline County Year

JR Aitken arrived from Higgins and visited Ferdinand on Saturday, discussing cattle purchases and stock conditions. Mir Alt hens, involved in Dostners fin, joined to buy Whiteface bulls. Aitken noted farming prospects were never better in Saline county and planned a prosperous year. He returned home Monday.
