Spelling Contest Planned for Grangeville March 15

A countywide spelling contest will be held in Grangeville on Saturday evening March 15 open to all pupils below Idaho county high school. Ten districts will send three contestants each with a committee of teachers supervising. The county superintendent will provide a 1000 word list and prize money of 25 10 and 5 to top finishers.

The J. E. Miller Implement Company is reorganized as Miller Hardware and Implement Company Limited with capital of 50000 dollars and 31400 dollars subscribed stock. New proprietors include J G Kimers A C Rituel and Marion Webey, expanding the firm’s leadership and anticipating rapid growth.

Two Odd Fellows Pass On In Kamiah Prominent local Odd Fellow buried

Charles Adams a Kamiah resident and longtime Odd Fellow died suddenly in Port where he was visiting while addressing lodge members. His body was shipped home for interment with fraternal honors as many outside Odd Fellows attended. N Berray died suddenly at his Kamiah home after years of residence and active Odd Fellowship, having taken part in the Buffalo Hump stampede before moving on to Kamiah.

White Bird March 3 Seth Jones reports cattle along the Snake and Salmon rivers are wintering well with food to April 1. About 5000 head are being fed by George Wood, Pittsburg Gur, Platt and Jones, and others. Total losses under 2 percent, with Texas stock faring better. Ben Reeves fed 600 head. two native cattle lost to a bluff and barb wire entanglement.
