County Board Grants Indigent Support and Pays Claims

Idaho county board met in regular session on July 12 1920 to approve indigent support for Bessie Gabriel T. D. and others, with monthly allowances beginning July 1 1920. The board authorized pensions for mothers and individuals and approved numerous expense and salary warrants funded from the Current Expense fund.

Waters of Locksa claim two in fishing tragedy

A fishing trip on the Locksa River ended in tragedy when A S Wright and Frank Wille perished after being swept into swift water at a sandbar near a log chute. Vernon and Frank aided in the rescue attempt, but Wright and Wille died after extensive efforts. Wright, a longtime Grangeville resident and former business leader, and Willey were mourned by a community that noted Wright’s Knights of Pythias ties and Willey’s Scouts involvement.

Hoy Scouts Plan Week at Fish Creek Ranger Station

Twenty five Hoy Scouts depart Grangeville Tuesday morning July 20 for a week at Fish Creek Ranger Station under Scout Master Bimbha and leader Fred Erakine. N P Men Speakers at Columbus Creek Picnic

A Grangeville organized picnic at Columbus near Cottonwood Creek drew many attendees under bright weather. Prof I P Davin of the University of Idaho spoke on state experiment stations and dairy value, followed by Mr Be liens of the Northern Pacific railway on farm cooperation and community welfare. Mr Bong urged coalition among farmers and businessmen, with plans for a county farmer association and a Woman's branch, aiming to unite farm and town interests and broaden community efforts.

Hindman Pioneer of Mount Idaho Dies in 1920

Mason Evan Hindman born in Martinsville West Virginia February 21 1847 died July 10 1920. He lived in Davis then Towa and settled in Nez Perce County Idaho in 1891 with his wife and six wives and five children are listed among his survivors. He moved to Mount Idaho later in life and is remembered as a pioneer figure in the region.
