The Grangeville Electric Light and Power Co seeks a new rate schedule from Idaho Public Utilities Commission to take effect Oct 1 1921. Protests welcomed until Aug 25. City protests show anticipated combined increases of 20 to 25 percent for residential, commercial, and street lighting, amid calls for full investigation before any raise.

Testament Echoes From Age In 1565 Volume

A Lewiston couple displayed an ancient testament brought to Spokane readers by Fred Erskine. The book’s title page shows 1665, matching the Moscow St. Mark’s rector linked copy, dated 1863, inscribed Theodore Rezae. The feathered cover shows years of handling, tracing a family library lineage.

Cedric Green Married at South State Street Home

At 11 p m on Tuesday Amy Haunts and Cedric Green, both of this city, were married by Rev A Cooper of the Christian church. In the presence of a few immediate friends the bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Haunts, and the groom, employed by Day and Abramson, will reside here and we extend best wishes from many friends.

Settle ment in W O W branch on late policy claim

Rover Ambler clerk of the local W O W branch received a $2000 settlement check for a policy on the late Leo Kabat dated 17 days after proof of death was filed. Ambler noted the insured had contributed $65.70 over three years of membership.

Hail Damaged Crops Reported After Sunday Storm

A Sunday afternoon hail storm caused extensive crop damage west of the city and in adjoining hills. Reports place losses on numerous farms with insured and uninsured acreage, including 55 acres on Craig L. Spencer place and 150 acres on Frank Gregg’s land. Estimated losses vary with per acre values and unverified sums still awaited.

Ship 3400 Head of Sheep to Chicago

Fourteen car loads of sheep were purchased by southern Idaho buyers this morning and sent to the Chicago market. Sellers included E.W. Kher 1000 head at 5.50, Hardin & Hardin 40 head at 4.75, Campbell & Russell 1500 head at 4.50, DH and William Lee 450 head at 4.75. A larger shipment is expected next week as more sheep arrive from the mountain ranges.

Coal mining tunnel progress reported near town

Samples from coal diggings on the mountain south of town were taken to town by Lem Neal president of the company. The tunnel has reached about 150 feet with improving indications daily. The work is expected to be extended several more feet before the product is uncovered.

Trout planting completed this week in Idaho counties

Deputy Game Warden Ton Fisher brought rainbow and brook trout shipments from Sandpoint hatchery Monday night. Forty five cans were unloaded at Cottonwood for planting in Rocky Canyon and Gravee Creek, while 37 cans were released in the South Fork of the Clearwater by M B Geary and Howard Wetherbee.

Grangeville Community Club forms to oppose converting the park into an auto campground unless alternative beautifiable land is found. State official tours Idaho highway route

State labor statistics commissioner H Barber visited Idaho with Mia Barber Miks Florence and Mike Kerr chief clerk in the U S bureau of crop estimates. They travelled from Boise along the North and South highway rain delayed them overnight at White Bird. Barber praised the new highway and scenery while a publicity campaign promotes Idaho statewide.

King Charles Muhlenberg dies after long illness

Charles Muhlenberg King aged 58 passed away early Friday at his nephew’s home in Solnson after a prolonged illness. Funeral at 3 pm Saturday on State Street conducted by Rev. C A Cooper and W N Knox. Survived by two relatives, Grafton F Johnson and his mother Mrs Melisa Pure. Burial arrangements and cause noted as brain softening from long illness.

Border Days Biggest in History

Geo. D. Smith elected president of the 1921 organization with Harold Harris as secretary, marking a milestone for the annual Border Days event and signaling strong leadership for the upcoming celebration.

Border Days set for Grangeville show in 1921 park

The Border Days festival known as The Show That Keeps the West Alive will run September 28 29 and 30 1921 in Grangeville at a new park. George D Smith elected president Red Harris secretary with Hub Wood Mat Goury and Charlie Campbell directing. Publicity handled by Harris as posters go out. The event includes a grand stand bleachers corral and livestock displays with daily western entertainment and parades. Local turnout from Salmon Snake River areas and other Idaho counties expected with many riders and western performers likely.

Forest Service purchases telephone line project

The Forest Service bought the telephone line along the Bile City road from Switchback Station to Elk City a distance of 86 miles from PE. Deputy Supervisor Tom Crossey leads a crew that will soon begin reconstruction of this line.
