Elmer Shaw Dead After Long Illness

Elmer Shaw died after months of tuberculosis at his mother's home in the northwest part of town. He leaves many friends among local youths where he has lived for years. The funeral will be Saturday under the auspices of the Eagle lodge, of which he was a member.

Northwestern Stock Growers meet in Spokane next

Hon Paul Clagstone president of the Northwestern Stock Growers association announced at a Commercial Club meeting that the association will next meet in Grangeville and the club will host the transportation and program. President Sims and members accepted the obligation and will form committees for details at the next club session. The association includes stockmen from Montana Idaho Washington and Oregon with an estimated 100 delegates expected in January.

Reynolds on the Run After Escaped Thief Sighting

Theodore Reynolds, an escaped horse thief, has been hunted for two weeks by county officers. A nightwatch spotted him in a boat on the Snake River near Lewiston and he surrendered the boat but fled on foot into the breaks. A man seen rowing with a shovel oar near Almota was believed to be Reynolds but proved to be another person. The Manning ranch pony remains missing and an Indian horse found near Kaulah was killed after a fall.

Hunting Season Opens Brisk In Local Hills

Hunting season opened last Monday with local parties of two to a dozen taking to foothills before nightfall. Some teams returned well supplied with grouse while others came home empty handed yet all enjoyed the exercise. Homer Ward fell from a horse near Tula last Sunday sustaining a fractured nose and severe bruises. He was found unconscious by the roadside and transported to Grangeville for treatment, remaining unconscious for a day or two before slowly recovering.

Five Grain Cars Wrecked Delays Passenger Train at Grangeville

Five grain cars wrecked near Reubens blocked the track delaying the passenger train. Freight cars could not be cleared in time, forcing the passenger to return to Lewiston for the convenience of travelers.
