Lightning Strikes Forest Workers Near Pilot Knob

Geo EB Watkins of Mt Idaho and Levi Colgrove of Orogra, Forest Service workers stationed at Pilot Knob, were struck by a Tuesday afternoon lightning bolt during a severe storm. They were rendered unconscious. Colgrove recovered first. Watkins arrived for medical care with a hammer-like head wound and blistered fingers, while Colgrove reported head pain but no serious injuries and could resume duties. The incident damaged a nearby phone line and extensive wire, prompting calls for a new line and wooden legs for the workers.

Demonstration of Automatic Extinguisher Held at Vollmer

There will be a demonstration of an automatic extinguisher at Vollmer on Tuesday August 15 under the United States Department of Agriculture and the state university extension department. County Agriculturist A E Wade of Lewis County will lead the event with actus explosions and fires being put out by the extinguisher.

Ladies Enjoy Affair At Mrs Hewes And Mrs Glanville Home

Mrs Hewes and Mrs Glanville hosted about twenty five ladies on Friday afternoon at a bungalow eight miles north of town. Activities included a conversation game of beans, a lawn search for popcorn, a group photo, and a light refreshments service. Each guest received a souvenir photo. the gathering ended with a playful note about a joke concluded by a cautious lesson. Visit Adams in Car Opens Prospects for Local Travel

R. R. Steen and Steve Hepton visited Adams Camp last Saturday by automobile and back the same day. They said with some road work the route could be fairly good and lure travel to Buffalo Hump mines and bring Grangeville within easy reach of fine fishing. The Commercial Club discussed the project at its Wednesday meeting and results are expected.

Farmer Bill Pankhurst Visits Idaho Campaign Trail

W J Pankhurst also known as Farmer Bill, Republican candidate for state auditor, arrived on Lewiston train last Saturday and stayed through Sunday. As Idaho Chamber of Commerce president and Richfield Recorder editor with a large farm, he promotes a north and south state highway, pledging chamber support and urging united efforts by commercial clubs to back the roadway project.

Hospital for City Urged by Medical Club

City physicians urged a public hospital at Oils place during a Can Mercial Club luncheon at the Imperial hotel. Drs. Stockton, Slusser attended. Dr. Ralus was absent ill. A committee including Mayor Fulton and the three physicians was formed to develop a feasible plan and present it to the public. Also notes on Buffalo Hump road improvements and capital interest, plus Evan Evans and Jimmie Ailshie returning from Spokane with a new Hudson Super-Six.
