Idaho County Good Roads Meeting Promotes State Highway Drive

A large turnout of road boosters gathered to back a North South Highway and local trunk lines. Speakers from Kooskia, Ferdinand, Cottonwood and nearby districts urged funding through bonds and taxes supported by Idaho County residents to connect Stites, Weippe, and Cow Creek with the proposed state road network. Representative Meyer returned from Chicago praising good roads and urging bond support if figures prove feasibility.

Ten Mile mines near Spokane plan new Eureka mill

A. McRea of Wonder Mine in Portland reports Ten Mile district projects in Idaho. The Wonder company will install a Eureka mill with 50 to 60 tons daily capacity, expecting high grade ore to yield strong profits, with tunnels reaching 800 feet and ore averaging $28.64 per ton. Buckhorn mine nearby shows activity with a Chilean mill and a $1400 gold brick found by EB Samples.

Misses Mary McKates and Bessie Eimers wired 152 to members of Company BE for the needs of the above as commerce Mies arise. Funds raised by the First Aid organization of Grangeville were sent to Sergeant Don Fisher via Western Union with no red tape. The money is for the boys, donors say, and no questions asked. The Civil War toast remains, "The Ladies, God Bless ’em," at Nogales end of the line.

Philadelphia capital to back Idaho mines with $175000 deal

Reports from Hit City district say Philadelphia interests are closing a $175,000 purchase of a Reyes property on the South Fork as part of a broader central Idaho investment. They plan operations aided by new ore treatment processes and expect heavy development and many miners brought in before season’s end.

Harvesting at Winona with Barn Construction Plans

In Winona Mr and Mrs Figgins of Winona attended to local business matters and prepared to build a 50 by 56 foot barn with a stone foundation after uncovering prime building sand. Mr Higgins noted many binders in use and planned to cut winter barley starting Monday. White Russian wheat harvests continued with Willis Turner cutting 40 acres. Mrs. Charles Beardsley Dies After Childbirth

Mrs Charles Beardsley died Tuesday night August 1 after a prolonged illness following childbirth. Her husband and children mourn with her parents Mr and Mrs Joseph Beardsley who traveled from Gentry Arkansas upon notification. The body prepared by Todabaker Hancock will be shipped to Arkansas for interment in the old Bowe cemetery.
