Dreamland hall hosts the Seville Cowboy band for the fourth annual Days of ’49 on April 28 29 with surprises teased and a street concert opener. Tickets expect crowded evenings as dances and sports events mix with old-time pastimes. Officials hint undisclosed acts but vow a grand, festive program ahead of official reveal.
The record notes Leon W Logue candidate for reelection as Idaho public instruction superintendent. It states Logue an English professor at Ollege? Gooling Waho with prior work in university extension and country to high school supervision. Also mentions Ethel Redfield as a fellow official and notes Logue’s completion from a state university and teaching sessions conducted.
Clerk Ambler of the local Woodmen group receives a letter inviting the Nezperce camp to attend a lodge session on April 14. About 25 applicants plan to join the event including a banquet and music. Lonnie Fray of Ellensburg Washington reports selling his confectionery shop and buying a newer, larger establishment in the same city. The purchase value is estimated around 7200 dollars with possession taken on the first of the month. The Frays praise Ellensburg as a profitable place with ample opportunity.
Seattle issued information shows four Idaho County soldiers disabled by wounds or disease are being trained for new occupations at government expense. Training occurs in schools shops or factories with some combination. single men receive 80 dollars monthly for living costs, dependents up to 150 dollars monthly. District III has trained over 2,000 disabled soldiers beyond Washington Oregon Idaho. Local listings include Grangeville Eugen s Van Fleet and others. several programs approved including University of Idaho and business colleges.
Former deputy postmaster Frank Munro of Grangeville, Indiana, now living in Bristol, Indiana, writes from Bristol on March 1. He travels with MPs to Florida, describes winter, a Dearborn Station gathering, a sleeper car, and a dawn departure after crossing snow and noting Kentucky and Tennessee farms in poor condition.
Friday night entry at Marion Weber's post office and store in Fenn led to theft of about $125 and stamps while checks and papers stayed. Sheriff Eller tracked footprints through fresh snow to a bunk house, detaining Fred Morris of the Witheraw ranch. Morris, found with partial footwear evidence and about $60, was jailed on $1,000 bail with a preliminary hearing slated.

Lewiston reports the death of 17 year old Charles Gordon, missing December 12 while trapping on the upper Snake River. A ten-man search party located the body, in a seated position, and authorities say he died from exposure or a trap-related incident. The body was found above Pittsburg with plans to remove it soon.
Tillie Ruth Ketron, age 1, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ketron, died early yesterday from pneumonia near their Denver home. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 11 o'clock today with interment in Denver Cemetery.
A rock slide at Grant Smith and Co camp No 1 above Doumecq last Friday trapped a Caterpillar shovel crew of three. Engineer Dr Wiles jumped and injured his hand and arm, fireman H Bickman broke a shoulder, cranesman Win Welch was pinned and near suffocation. All were taken to Sacred Heart hospital with non fatal injuries. a new shovel crew was sent to camp No 1.
Returning from Portland last Friday Mrs. Chieh Po Cone recovers from a three week treatment period. Cone had been under medical care at a facility in Portland where several guests were edited for safety. He plans to visit friends locally, including Powell Gibson who is recuperating from a severe operation.
The funeral for Mrs Katherina Von Berge was held at her residence last Saturday forenoon. A large number of friends from the surrounding country attended. The services were conducted by Rev. H. S. Randall of the Federated church. Undertaker A. J. Mange directed the funeral.
