Death penalty debate and plea bargaining reform urged by Florida public defender

New Lives for Two Viet Namese Women in Venice
The two 20 year old Vietnamese refugees Ngan Dinh and Wongsysy Y spoke about adjusting to life in the United States and learning English. They were presented to the Venice Homemakers Club at the Venice Civic Center by president Mrs. T De Fraene. The Dinh family, with two young children Yen and Jimmy, live at the Venice Nokomis United Methodist Church custodian’s cottage where Dinh works. The church sponsors them. Wongsysy Y is sponsored by a Pennsylvania family. The women met in church in Vietnam and arrived in the U S last summer via Guam California and Ft Chaffey Ark before Venice.

Venice City Hall Announces New Weekday Hours
Venice City Hall will open at 8 30 a.m. Monday through Friday with general offices closing at 5 p.m. Utility bill payments and fee purchases run 8 30 to 4 Monday through Thursday and 8 30 to 5 on Friday. A city hall spokesman says the change should not inconvenience residents.

Venice students win Washington trip on essays
Dennis Christofferson and Kelly Cecil, ages 17 and 13, earned an expense paid four day trip to Washington D C after writing prize winning essays for the Tamiami Memorial Post 8118. They toured sights including the Washington Monument Lincoln Memorial and White House and placed a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.
