The Sarasota County School Board approved a new staffing formula last Thursday that increases teacher and support unit divisors by a half, aiming to cut staff by about ten and a half positions. The plan, drafted after principals and the superintendent met, keeps Pillot's goal but reduces proposed cuts and adds a January deadline for cost data to decide course removals.

Bands Needed for Flying Feet at Bicentennial Parade
Bands of rock Dixieland polka and square dancing are sought to perform during the area Bicentennial celebration. Volunteers receive a certificate of appreciation from the steering committee.
