Roof-breaking marks start of Venice Hospital third floor addition
Venice Hospital officials led by Board President Charles R. Miles and Mayor Harry Case initiated roof breaking for the new 93 bed addition costing 4.4 million dollars. The project includes a four bed intensive respiratory care unit and expanded respiratory therapy. Funding comes from local lenders. no government financing or tax support. The 15 month completion targets a new third floor designed by C. H. McCauley.

Tickets for the January 31 Venice Bicentennial Extravaganza at Venice High School Stadium are $3.50 and available at the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce. The five hour program includes a 10 a.m. band competition with 12 high school groups, a 1:30 p.m. show with seven acts, and a two hour Circus Parade grandstand seat, plus a lunch break. The event features Largo High School Band of Gold, Venice High School Bel Canto Singers, Venice Little Theatre, Beverly School of Dance, a barber shop quartet society, and the Sweet Adelines.
