R L Sharpe a Florida Power and Light foreman was knocked out when a hydraulic lift pole cat boom sheared at its pivot while installing a concrete pole in front of the Venice Beach Pavilion. He recovered after treatment and returned to work. damage to equipment and pole was about 1000 dollars.

Ringling Bros Premieres 1967 Season Unveiled In Venice
The Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows announce world premiere showings in Venice at 2 and 7 30 p m Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of a 97th touring year. A 10 month road run opens Friday in St Petersburg with Miami next, while Toto and Gargantua II stay behind in winter headquarters.

Venice area third traffic fatality in 10 days
The Venice area recorded its third traffic death in 10 days and first of the year after a two car crash at the U S 41 Bypass and business route intersection just north of the city. Florence Manwiller 73 died eight hours after the collision at Venice Hospital. Edna Alexander 71 suffered fractured ribs and cheekbone. Jacques Letendre 25 and his wife Louis 26 of Canada were injured with a broken leg and knee and a head cut. State Trooper C H Baker Jr said Alexander failed to yield at a stop sign. Damages were about 2600 to Letendre s car and 3800 to Alexanders car. Both cars had seat belts but not in use. Manwiller was a winter visitor from Sarnia Ontario.

Parking Lot Helps Circus Traffic Costs in Venice
Police supervision at Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey four premieres in Venice will cover part of traffic control costs. Chief John C. Shockey says last year the $1 car fee netted 1056, with 100 spent on food for officers, leaving 956 to the city.

Venice Seniors Visit Ringling Museum for humanities study
The Venice High School senior class will take an all day trip to the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota on Wednesday. About 200 students and six teachers depart by bus at 8 45 a m and return at 2 30 p m for a guided tour and lectures on 17th century art and culture in the gallery and Asolo Theatre.

55th Season for Clown Kinko Opens Big Show This Week
Glenn Sunbury, known as Kinko the contortionist and72, marks his 55th year in show business with a premiere takeoff featuring a Wild West honky tonk. He joined Barnum & Bailey in 1918 and toured Ringling, performing in Russia and Europe.

Purple Heart Awarded Posthumously in Sarasota
A Purple Heart medal and citation were awarded posthumously Thursday at the National Guard Armory in Sarasota to Set. David Deen, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Deen of Laurel, killed in action in Vietnam in November. The medal and citation were presented to his wife, Mrs. Katherine C. Deen.

Soldier Lewman Leads Rescue at Viet Cong Front
A beleaguered 9th Infantry patrol was aided as Lewman assumed command after joining the line. He directed allied forces silencing VC fire from a hamlet, moving across a rice paddy to warn the patrol with the shout Manchus. He then led the combined units seeking to repel the attack.
