Barnett Mortgage Trust proposes to sell the 18.6 acre Casey Key North Jetty parcel to Sarasota County for 1.94 million dollars. The deal includes options and escrow terms with potential state reimbursement and a prior 1.75 million offer from the county. Ambulance district gets budget OK

Sarasota County Commission gave final approval to the South County Ambulance Service District for its budget personnel and operating procedures and schedule of charges. The board plans to begin operation by March 15 with two leased ambulances from Herndon Ambulance Service and three more later. a state grant will fund new vehicles and telecommunication gear. The district will charge 35 dollars for a single patient run and 15 dollars for extra transfers, 35 dollars plus one dollar per mile for one way trips, 50 dollars to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and 60 dollars to the Sarasota Bradenton Airport, with a 5 dollar cap on medical supplies. The service will handle only emergency calls and plans to hire 17 EMTs. The commission also tentatively approved leasing a mobile base station on U.S. 41 pending final appraisal. The dispatch center will be housed in a five-bedroom trailer, and the service contact number will be 488-2211.
