Cadet Warren H Spurge II age 20 son of Dr and Mrs Warren B Spurge of Osprey attends six weeks of Army ROTC training at Ft Sill Oklahoma. He studies at Tulane University New Orleans and will be commissioned as a second lieutenant after camp and graduation. He is a Delta Tau Delta member and Riverview High School 1964 graduate.

Vandalism Reported Across South County Over Two Nights
Five vandalism incidents were reported in South County areas over two nights last week. Coin boxes vanished and booths damaged at four sites including Texaco North Port Charlotte Hess Oil South Venice and Quality Quick L dry Nokomis. Wires ripped from a booth at Dog n Suds Venice. Mailboxes at 630 and 712 Cadiz Rd Venice twisted and damaged at $15 each. Tire tracks were found across a yard leading to a mailbox.

Venice Records First 1967 Traffic Fatality
Wilbert Lee Hales 35 of Venice died after his eastbound car hit the East Venice Avenue bridge abutment at 1:46 am Saturday. The single-car crash, at high speed, occurred near U.S. 41 crossing, killing Hales on arrival at Venice Hospital. He worked as supervisor of operations for Florida land and is survived by his wife Blanche. Funeral services were set for 2 pm at Rawles Venice Funeral Home chapel.
