Shot by Sheepherder Wounds Gilkey in Pump Kin County

A telephoned report says C. A. Gilkey a leading sheepman in Pump Kin County was shot earlier this morning. The assailant was a former herder. A .45 caliber bullet passed through his body just below the heart and his recovery is at best doubtful as doctors and the sheriff head to the scene.

Frameup in Wool Sale Rumor Reaches Idaho

A Carbon County Journal note recounts two southern Idaho sheep men invited others to sell wool at 26 cents. Contracts were signed to set the price, but many producers held out. A sale later saw Lisman Bros. pay 27 to 28 cents for wool, leaving the contracted men badly exposed.

New Baggage Valuation Rule Under Interstate Law

Beginning last week a Cum mings act change to the Interstate Commerce law requires travelers to declare baggage value at check in. Railways cover up to 100 dollars free with a 10 cent charge per extra 100 dollars value. False declarations are a misdemeanor and each baggage check records the declared value and any excess fee.

June 1 Crop Report for Wyoming Shows Large Increases

The Department of Agriculture release for Wyoming notes higher estimates versus the prior year with winter wheat at 1 400 000 bushels up 320 000, spring wheat 1 620 000 up 310 000, oats 8 260 000 up 385 000, barley 623 000 down 5 000. Hay and pasture conditions are reported but text is unclear due to OCR errors.
